Any of NYC's three airports are good options. Plan on at least an hour for transit to/from the airport. From St. Louis, Southwest is a good option (larger plane, free bags, free changes). Click below for more details about ground transportation at each airport.
JFK
JFK is the most economical choice, especially if traveling solo. Take the AirTrain to Jamaica and then hop the LIRR (commuter train) to Penn Station ($12-14.50/p). Or, once at Jamaica you can alternately catch the Subway (E) for a cheaper, albeit longer, option into Midtown ($7.50/p).
Tip: The AirTrain has three routes, so be sure to board the line to Jamaica.
Tip: At Penn Station follow the handicapped signs if you have heavy luggage and want to avoid the stairs.
La Guardia
La Guardia is the best value for groups of 2-4, with easy and quick taxi service to Midtown (about $40 plus tip). Keep in mind there's no subway connection at La Guardia.
Newark
For groups of three or fewer it's economical to take the train. Take the AirTrain to the rail station, and then take NJTransit (commuter train) to Midtown ($15/p). Avoid this route late at night when trains are infrequent.
Otherwise, taxis are abundant at each terminal for $80-100 including tip & toll into Manhattan.

Manhattan is the land of hotels with thousands of options from economy hotels to 5-star luxury hotels. While we don't have a block of rooms set aside for guests, we have compiled a brief list of recommendations below.
We want all of our out-of-town guests to have a trouble-free visit, so don't hesitate to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like to coordinate with other travellers.
Which neighborhood is best?
Most neighborhoods in Manhattan are convenient and safe. Generally, we recommend hotels between the financial district and Central Park (Chambers Street on the south, 59th Street on the north, 10th Avenue on the west, 3rd Avenue on the east).
The financial district is generally dead on the weekends. SoHo and TriBeCa are trendy. Times Square has tons of hotels and is very touristy. Streets in the 30s lack charm but offer many hotels from name brands (just avoid being near the river/tunnels on either side).
The west side has easy access to our venue by subway (A/C/E and 1 trains). Tribeca and Soho are walkable.
You can, of course, stay farther out to find more affordable options. If you go this route we recommend being near a train station. Jersey City, Hoboken, Long Island City, Williamsburg, the Upper West Side and Upper East Side are certainly worth searching. Avoid East New York, Bedford Stuyvesant, Harlem, Staten Island and The Bronx, as they are inconvenient.

Budget-friendly tips
Many hotels reduce rates two or three weeks out. One way to save might be to book a refundable room several months out, and then cancel if you find a deal around three weeks out.
Also, Hotwire is a great way to find a deal. Be sure to sort by % recommended to find highly rated hotels.
Priceline is useful, as well. Recommended for 4 or 5-star hotels. Again, more deals are typically available three weeks out.
Be sure to see the suggested neighborhoods above.
